I'm an academic at AUT University specialising in Leadership and Event Management. Before that I worked at the University of Auckland for eight years.
I am chair of Archery NZ (Inc). chair of the Archery NZ High Performance Subcommittee and co-chair of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee.
As well as my archery work, I am a martial artist, a nidan (2nd dan) black belt in Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate. I represented New Zealand at the WGKF Karate Championships in Bucharest, Romania in 2017 placing 3rd in kata in the Women's Grandmaster division.
In 2016 I was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to LGBTQI human rights and education. I have been a finalist in the New Zealander of the Year Awards four times and was runner up in the Senior New Zealander of the Year in 2020.
I am proud whakawahine (transgender woman), a spouse and a parent.
